On May 19th, 2019 at 1343 hours officers were called to a disturbance with weapons in the 2400 block of 7th avenue, Greeley Colorado.
Upon arrival officers located Francisco Varela 8/18/99 and Marcus Williams 10/14/93 who were involved in a disturbance with the Barcelona family.
Early in the investigation officers learned that, Williams and his girlfriend were having an argument when two members of the Barcelona family physically attacked Williams. Williams and his girlfriend (who is the daughter of one of the Barcelona’s) got into a vehicle and drove away. A short time later Williams came back to the residence followed by his friend, Varela. During the confrontation the Barcelona family was armed with a knife and baseball bat. Sometime during the argument Varela grabbed an AR-15 assault rifle from his vehicle and pointed it at the Barcelona’s. At this time one of the Barcelona’s drove off at a high rate of speed and Varela shot one time at the vehicle while it was leaving, penetrating the back window and grazing the arm of the driver.
Marcus Williams was arrested and transported to the Northern Jail Complex where he was booked in on one count of engaging in a riot and one count of conspiracy to engage in a riot. Francisco Varela was arrested and transported to Northern Jail Complex where he was booked in on the following charges: engaging in a riot, conspiracy to engage in a riot, illegal discharge of a firearm and prohibited use of a weapon.
