Greeley Police make arrests of October homicide suspects

On Sunday, October 3rd at approximately 5:43 a.m., the Greeley Police and Fire Department were dispatched to a house fire in the 2400 block of 15th Avenue Court. The caller also reported the home’s resident may still be inside.

Officers nearby, on an unrelated call, were on scene to assist almost immediately. Due to the size and intensity of the blaze, officers were unable to enter the home safely. The Weld County Coroner and Greeley Fire arson investigator also responded to the scene.

The body located in the home was positively identified as Chris Dickerson, 35. The Weld County Coroner ruled the manner of death for Mr. Dickerson as homicide. Since the morning of the fire, Greeley Detectives have been working tirelessly to solve this case.

The culmination of that investigation has resulted in the arrest of two suspects. Officers arrested Stacy Rodriguez, 19, and Hosanna Varela, 23. Both women were transported to the Weld County Jail and booked in on the following charges:
• 1st Degree Murder – Class 1 Felony
• 1st Degree Arson – Class 3 Felony
• 1st Degree Burglary – Class 3 Felony
• Tampering with Evidence – Class 6 Felony

No further information will be released today.

If you have any information on this case and have not been interviewed by officers, please contact
