BATTLE North Wins Award for Reducing Auto Thefts by 32% in 2023

GREELEY, Colo. – Colorado Auto Theft Investigators Association (CATI) hosts an annual conference made possible through CATPA (Colorado Auto Theft Prevention Authority) grant monies. These are the same grants that allow BATTLE North (Beat Auto Theft Through Law Enforcement) to conduct auto theft operations in and around Greeley throughout the year. Greeley Police officers and detectives participate in these operations routinely.

Greeley Police has multiple members assigned to “BATTLE North,” who are dedicated to lowering the auto theft issues seen in Weld, Larimer, and Boulder County specifically. BATTLE North consists of members from the Greeley Police, Dacono Police, Ault Police, Windsor Police, Johnstown Police, Windsor Police, Boulder Police, Evans Police Colorado State Patrol, Weld County Sheriff’s Office, Larimer County Sheriff’s Office, Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Loveland Police, Fort Collins Police, and the ATICC (Auto Theft Intelligence Coordination Center).

On Thursday, April 18, 2024, BATTLE North and its members were awarded CATPA’s “Excellence in Auto Theft Prevention Award” for their collective work in 2023. BATTLE North was instrumental in driving motor vehicle theft down 32% in the Northern Colorado area, compared to 2022 statistics. These efforts equated to the arrest of 77 suspects, the dismantling of more than a few criminal enterprises, and the recovery of 91 reported stolen vehicles valued at approximately $1,090,125. This is outstanding work by the agency representatives and BATTLE North as a whole.

The BATTLE North district was saw a reduction of motor vehicle thefts in their area during 2023 by 32%, when compared to the previous year. These kinds of numbers are a direct reflection of the amazing collaborative work by all the participating agencies. The teamwork and interagency cooperation displayed by BATTLE North is a testament to the commitment of public safety by the participating agencies.
