GREELEY, Colo. – On Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at approximately 8:49 pm, Greeley Police Officers were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 3700 block of 24th Street, on reports of a shooting that had just occurred.
Upon arrival, officers located a 17-year-old male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds with severe injuries. Medics were summoned to the scene and immediately transported the victim to a local hospital. The victim remains in the hospital in critical condition.
Since that time, members of the Greeley Police Department have been continuing to investigate the shooting. Investigators were granted a search warrant for a home in Greeley near 28th Avenue and 20th Street. The suspect, a 15-year-old juvenile male, was located there and taken into custody without incident.
The suspect was transported to a youth correctional facility and charged with Attempted 1st Degree Murder, 1st Degree Assault, Felony Menacing, and Aggravated Robbery. The suspect is currently being held without bond. Due to the suspect and victim’s ages and statuses as juveniles, we will not be releasing either’s name or photograph. Investigators believe this was a targeted attack and at this time we have no reason to believe there is an on-going threat to the community.
