This morning at about 7:46 AM two juveniles were crossing 23rd Avenue at 16th Street in the crosswalk with the lights when an eastbound vehicle, driven by Juanita Rodriguez, DOB 081742 of Greeley, was attempting to make a turn southbound onto 23rd Avenue. The juveniles were struck in the intersection and received minor injuries. Paramedics attended to the 12-year-old males on the scene and one was transported to NCMC for evaluation, and the other child was taken by his parent to their family doctor. Rodriguez received a citation for Failure to Yield to Pedestrian, and released. Rodriguez said that she had a green light to proceed, but indicated that she had bright sunlight in her eyes and did not see the pedestrians in the crosswalk as she was making her turn.
