Early Morning Greeley Shooting Sends One to The Hospital

GREELEY, Colo. – On Saturday, November 30, 2024, at approximately 2:26 a.m., Greeley Police Officers responded to Wyler’s Pub and Brew, located in the 2300 block of 27th Street, on a report of a shooting that had just occurred. The suspect fled the scene prior to the arrival of officers.

Several officers responded to the scene and found multiple shell casings on the ground and bullet holes in the business’ front door. Officers entered the business and located one victim, a 38-year-old female, suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers performed life-saving measures, summoned emergency medical personnel who were already staged nearby, and carried the victim to the ambulance when it arrived. The victim was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, underwent surgery, and is expected to survive.

The Greeley Police Department Investigations Unit responded to the scene and will be leading the investigation. In addition, Major Crime Field Evidence Technicians responded for the collection and processing of evidence. The Victim Assistance Unit responded to the hospital to be with and support the family of the victim during this difficult time as well.

Detectives quickly identified a suspect, Jimmy Cazares, 32, and believed he was at a home in the 2300 block of 25th Street, in Greeley. Greeley Police Officers surrounded the home and made announcements for Cazares to exit the home. Cazares eventually exited the home unarmed and was taken into custody without incident.

Jimmy Cazares was transported to the Weld County Jail and booked for Criminal Attempt 1st Degree Murder–Extreme Indifference, Criminal Attempt to Commit a Class One Felony, 1st Degree Assault, Controlled Substance Possession–Special Offender, Prohibited Use of a Weapon, Illegal Discharge of a Weapon, Large Capacity Magazine Possession During a Crime, Possession of a Weapon by Previous Offender. Cazares does not have a bond at this time.
