GREELEY, Colo. – On February 14, 2024, shortly after 8:00 a.m., Greeley Police officers and other first responders were dispatched to the intersection of 35th Avenue and 25th Street for reports of a multiple vehicle traffic accident with injuries.
Officers were on scene within minutes and located a 68-year-old female passenger with severe injuries. The female was transported to a local hospital where she was later pronounced deceased. The driver of the vehicle, a 63-year-old male, was also transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries and is expected to survive. Due to the seriousness of the accident, the Greeley Police Department Traffic Unit was immediately requested to respond to the scene and is conducting the investigation.
The driver of the other vehicle, Aaron Hernandez, 27, remained on scene and cooperated with investigators. Hernandez was arrested for Careless Driving Resulting in Injury or Death and a Red Light violation. He was taken to a local hospital for evaluation before being transported to the Weld County Jail and booked without incident.
