On June 17th at 7:54 in the evening Greeley Officers heard gunshots in the area of 18th Avenue and 9th street. The officer who was in the area determined the shooting occurred on the south side of the Sinclair gas station.
The shooter was quickly identified as Marcos Maldonado (01/14/87) who shot at the victims from inside his vehicle. The shooting was determined to be gang-related. An investigation by Gang Detectives revealed the victim and Marcos were arguing about a previous gang-related case they were both involved in. Marcos Maldonado pulled out a handgun and shot two rounds at the victims. Marco’s wife, Kendra Maldonado, and their four children were also inside the vehicle during the shooting.
On June 28th, Kendra Maldonado was arrested for her involvement in this case. She was arrested for retaliation against a witness and child abuse.
On July 5th, Greeley Officers arrested Marcos Maldonado in the 1800 block of 5th street for his involvement in this case. Marcos was arrested for:
– 18-8-706 RETALIATION AGAINST A WITNESS OR VICTIM (F3)
– 18-2-101 CRIMINAL ATTEMPT – C.R.S. 18-3-202 ASSAULT IN THE FIRST DEGREE (F4)
– 18-3-206 MENACING (F5)
– 18-6-401 CHILD ABUSE (M2)
Both Kendra and Marcos were booked into the Weld County Jail on the above charges.
