Gang Related Shooting -20G068842

On Sunday, August 23rd, at approximately 6:40 in the evening, officers with the Greeley Police Department responded to a shooting in the 3000 block of 23rd Avenue. Witnesses relayed information that an adult male was shot and had collapsed on the ground. Officers arrived and rendered first aid to the shooting victim until medical personnel arrived. The victim did not sustain life-threatening gunshot wounds; however, the victim did have surgery to remove bullet fragments.

Officers determined the shooting was gang motivated and turned over the investigation to Gang Detectives. During the investigation, detectives followed up on several leads. They ultimately identified the shooter as Christopher Madrid (02/10/97), who is a tracked gang member with the Greeley Police Department. Detectives placed an arrest warrant for Madrid for the charges of, Attempted Murder in the 2nd-degree, 1st-degree assault and, possession of a weapon by a previous offender.

On Monday, September 21st, 2020, The Evans Police Department arrested Madrid on a traffic stop in the 4900 block of 35th avenue. Madrid was booked into the Weld County Jail on the above charges.
