GREELEY, Colo. – On November 11, 2022, at 5:26 p.m. officers from the Greeley Police and Garden City Police Departments responded to reports of an automobile vs. pedestrian traffic accident in the 2400 block of 8th Avenue.
Bystanders on scene began performing life-saving measures on the injured man, to include CPR, prior to officer arrival. Officers arrived on scene shortly after and located a 75-year-old male victim with severe injuries. Officers then took over CPR compressions until medical units arrived.
The man was pronounced deceased on scene. The identity of the deceased will be released at a later time by the Weld County Coroner pending next-of-kin notifications.
The Greeley Police Department Traffic Unit responded to the scene and will be lead on the investigation. This is standard for traffic accidents that result in serious bodily injury and/or death. That portion of 8th Avenue was closed for several hour while officers investigated the accident.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Speed, alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be contributing factors to the accident. The investigation is still ongoing, and we will update the community and media with pertinent information as it becomes available.
No additional information will be released today. Anyone with information about this case that has not been interviewed is asked to please contact Officer Little at 970-373-9402.
