GREELEY, Colo. – On Saturday, November 2, at approximately 7:10 p.m., Greeley Police officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of 9th Ave on reports of a shooting with one person injured. When officers arrived on scene, they immediately located a 19-year-old male victim lying in the roadway suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Officers summoned EMS units while providing life saving measures to the victim.
Medical units arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Several Greeley Police detectives responded and will lead the investigation. Major Crimes Field Evidence Technicians also responded to the scene to process vital evidence. Detectives and evidence technicians were on scene for several hours after the incident.
During the course of the shooting, there was also a related motor vehicle accident near the shooting location involving unoccupied vehicles. We believe the victim and suspect knew each other and this was not a random attack. The victim’s identity will be released at a later time pending next-of-kin notification by the Weld County Coroner’s Office.
We are asking anybody with information on this case to call the Greeley Police Department at (970) 350-9605. No further information will be released today.
