Shooting Investigation Temporarily Puts Schools on “Secure Perimeter” Status

GREELEY, Colo. – On Wednesday, November 1, at 2:59 p.m., the Greeley Police Department was dispatched to the area of 35th Avenue and 22nd Street on a report of shots being fired. Greeley Police Officers immediately responded to the scene, securing it and beginning their investigation.

At the time of the incident two nearby schools, Greeley West High School and Meeker Elementary, were placed on a “Secure Perimeter” status after communicating with District 6 Security Officials. The schools were released from the secure perimeter status a short time later and the students were permitted to leave.

The Greeley Police Department Investigations Unit also responded to the scene and are leading the investigation, which is still on-going.
