On Saturday, September 10 at about 10:35 pm, Greeley Police officers were attempting to locate a stolen vehicle in the area of 4th Avenue and 11th Street. While in the area, officers located and recovered a stolen Hyundai Sonata. During that investigation, officers received credible information that multiple wanted felons were in the basement of a home in the 1100 block of 4th Avenue.
Officers were able to convince some of the wanted suspects in the house to voluntarily exit and surrender. Officers confirmed that Ernesto Baray, 40 and Diana Orozco, 24, were both still inside the house and refusing to voluntarily exit. Baray was also featured on Greeley Police Department’s “Warrant Wednesday” social media post in May 2022.
Due to the seriousness of the barricaded suspect’s criminal charges, the Greeley Police Department SWAT Team and Crisis Negotiations Unit (CNU) were activated and responded to the scene. After negotiations to surrender were unsuccessful, SWAT introduced chemical munitions into the home.
Baray and Orozco surrendered to officers shortly thereafter. In addition to Baray and Orozco, Savanna Ferguson, Julio Dominguez and Domingo Salazar Jr., who are 26, 44 and 50, respectively, were also arrested on various outstanding warrants. All five suspects were transported and booked into the Weld County Jail. A firearm was also recovered during the arrests.
