On Wednesday, August 11th at about 12:05 pm the Weld County Regional Dispatch Center received multiple 911 calls about a multi-car traffic accident with injuries in the 4900 block of 10th Street. Multiple officers from the Greeley Police Department arrived on scene minutes later.
All westbound lanes of 10th Street from 47th Avenue to 50th Avenue, as well one eastbound lane in the same block, were closed for approximately four hours while the scene was being processed. The Greeley Fire Department and multiple ambulances also arrived to assist.
One driver, an adult male, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His identity is being withheld until next-of-kin notifications have been made. The decedent’s identity will be released at a later time by the Weld County Coroner. Another driver was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and a third driver was not injured.
The preliminary investigation shows one of the vehicles crossed into the opposite lanes of traffic, resulting in a head-on collision. The investigation is still ongoing.
