Two-vehicle accident kills one, injures two more

On Friday, November 19, 2021 at approximately 10:51 a.m. the Weld County Regional Dispatch Center began receiving multiple 9-1-1 calls reference a two-vehicle-head-on-collision at the intersection of westbound Highway 34 Bypass and 65th Avenue.

A Greeley Fire Department Battalion Chief was several hundred feet behind accident in a marked department SUV when he witnessed it. The Battalion Chief stopped, provided immediate first aid to the injured parties, and coordinated a Fire and Medical response to the scene simultaneously.

Officers, Fire and EMS personnel arrived shortly after to assist. The driver of one vehicle, a 53-year-old female, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The identity of that driver will be released at a later time by the Weld County Coroner.

EMS units transported a juvenile female passenger and 28-year-old female driver to a local hospital for treatment. The juvenile has since been released from the hospital and the adult is still in serious condition.

The westbound lanes of Highway 34 Bypass at 65th Avenue were shut down from the time of the accident until 4:10 p.m. so officers could investigate. The accident is still under investigation, but the roadway has been reopened.

Alcohol and drugs may have been a factor in the accident. There will be no additional information released today. If you have any information on this case and have not been interviewed by officers, please contact Officer Brock Little at 970-350-9605.
