GREELEY, Colo. – This is an update to an initial press release that can be found at https://greeleypd.com/saturday-evening-shooting-claims-the-life-of-19-year-old-greeley-man/.
On Saturday, November 2, at approximately 7:10 p.m., Greeley Police officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of 9th Ave on reports of a shooting with one person injured. When officers arrived on scene, they immediately located a male victim lying in the roadway suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Officers summoned EMS units while providing life saving measures to the victim.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The victim was later identified as Jesus Solis, 19. The suspect in this case was identified as Marco Ruiz-Villescaz, 19. Detectives secured an arrest warrant for Ruiz-Villescaz on several charges including Murder in the Second Degree. With the assistance of Greeley Police SWAT Officers, Ruiz-Villescaz was taken into custody on Wednesday, November 6, without incident, and booked into the Weld County Jail.
Even though Ruiz-Villescaz is in custody, the investigation into the exact events that led to the murder are still being investigated. We are asking anybody with information on this case to call Detective Brunmeier at (970) 351-5352. No further information will be released today.
